As members of IIA, we have access to education opportunities, industry resources, and exclusive events. One of the best ways for our team members to grow is by obtaining new designations such as CISR (Certified Insurance Service Representative), CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor), or CRM (Certified Risk Manager), and IIA offers courses that fulfill education requirements for these designations. IIA also provides answers to hundreds of common coverage questions.
Insurance agents in Illinois are required to hold licenses for any lines of coverage they sell. Our team members must complete 20 hours of coursework in their specialty and pass an exam to become licensed. Plus, to maintain their license, they have to complete 24 hours of additional educational courses before renewing their license every two years.
Getting licensed isn’t the only way to become a coverage expert. Insurance professionals can also work towards a variety of insurance designations. These designations reflect hours of specialized coursework and expertise in various topics, including risk management and underwriting. Though insurance professionals aren’t required to obtain designations, they are a great way to signify a dedication to education and excellent service.
